Thunder Dismiss Commies, 3-2
|
Starting pitcher Ivan Vaiz had a solid game. He was a big reason the Key West Thunder throttled the Caribbean Commies, 3-2. Vaiz got the win, improving to 3-5. He gave up 4 hits and walked 3 over 6.1 innings. He allowed no runs. Bobby Cintron was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 3 save opportunities.
Key West took a 3-0 lead on Ryan Kangas's 7th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Kangas hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Caribbean pitcher Kamaliela Amarco visibly frustrated.
"The fact of the matter is that we had a shot to win," said losing manager Atamas Manas.
The Thunder move to 30-33 with the win, while the Commies drop to 21-42.
