Syracuse got a terrific performance from pitcher Mike Holder, but it wasn't enough to beat the Normal Nutcrackers. Normal won the The Nutcracker Suite contest, 3-2. Holder threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Normal reliever Mario Abundis picked up the win to move to 1-2. Jake Parisi suffered the loss. Normal goes to 33-46, Syracuse to 46-33.

The Nutcrackers were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 16-year old shortstop Wilson Franco landed a big blow. He turned a first pitch fastball from Jake Parisi into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the The Nutcracker Suite denizens into a frenzy and sent the Nutcrackers home with a thrilling 3-2 win.

"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Franco said.
