The Sylva Miners beat the Scottsdale Scorpions, 6-3, at Scottsdale Stadium. Dan Becker, who is tied for 10th in the RR with a .330 batting average, starred for Sylva. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3. Sylva pitcher Brad Helmick got the win. He's now 11-1. Manuel Olivas was tagged with the loss. The save went to Jeremy Remington, his 5th this season.

Sylva used a timely hit from Jaheim Burke to get the win. The catcher stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Miners ahead, 6-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"We didn't get the results that we wanted," said Scottsdale skipper Sergio Guerrero.

The Miners boast a remarkable 53-11 record.
