Bloomington turned a good performance from starting pitcher John Peters into a 3-1 triumph over the Jacksonville Pilots at Arson Arena. Peters picked up the win for Bloomington, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 2-0. Erik McKnight got credit for the save for Bloomington. It was his 2nd of the year.
Alan Willer had a big 2-run double for the Blazers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Bloomington leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Russ Fought and swatted a double to left. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blazers ahead, 3-0.
"John has got a slow heartbeat," said Bloomington manager Scott Andrews. "He doesn't panic or anything."
The loss lowers the Jacksonville record to 6-4.
