The Caribbean Commies knocked off the Brooklyn Cyclones, 10-3, at The Lava Flow. Fabrício Alfes was a big reason Caribbean won. The second baseman was 2 for 6 with a home run. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Francisco Castillo, the winner, is now 8-5. He struck out 6 and walked 3 over 5.1 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. The defeat makes Brooklyn 31-35.

Alfes contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Caribbean in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-0, Alfes took a fastball from Matthew Witt and stroked the home run to left. His 7th home run of the season allowed the Commies to leap in front, 3-2.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Alfes.
