The Thunder Bay Lighting clobbered the Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas, 12-3, at Lightning Grove. Leading the onslaught was Alberto Melchor. He was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and 2 walks. He scored 4 times for Thunder Bay. Thunder Bay reliever Alex Palacios got the win, raising his record to 3-1. Ricky Gonzalez was tagged with the loss. The first-place Lighting have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.

Aleixos Gouveia had a big 2-run double for the Lighting in the bottom of the first inning. With Thunder Bay leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Ricky Gonzalez, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2063 draft, and swatted a double to right. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Lighting ahead, 4-0.

"You just play the game as right as you can and see where you end up," said Lighting manager Masamune Fujimoto.
