Caribbean Bats Cold in 5-0 Loss
The Brooklyn Cyclones dumped the Caribbean Commies, 5-0, in large part due to second baseman Alfredo Valdez. On the day, Valdez was 2-3 with a double and a walk for the Cyclones. Jorge Melgoza picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-1. Esteban Castaneda was tagged with the loss. The triumph puts Brooklyn at 38-31 for the season.

Kevin Cumby helped out the Brooklyn cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the designated hitter went 1-3 with 2 walks.

Cumby called the win "a collective effort."
