Cormack, Hornets Beat Armada, 7-3
|
Behind the hitting of Ed Cormack, the Eureka Hornets stopped the Quebec Armada, 7-3. Cormack was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Hornets. Bobby Loscalzo, the winning pitcher, is now 7-8. He went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 1. By defeating Quebec, the second-place Hornets improved to 52-42.
With Eureka trailing 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Cormack hit a changeup from Ed Roby for a 3-run home run. It was his 20th home run of the season and put the Hornets ahead, 3-1.
"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Cormack. "It sure beats the alternative."
