Lighting Keep Reeling Off Wins
|
Doug Armer had a good game, but he could not keep the Coronado Islanders from falling, 6-5, to the Thunder Bay Lighting at Barack H. Obama Park. The Coronado third baseman went 1-1 with a home run and 4 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 in the loss. The win was credited to 21-year old right-handed pitcher Cortez Soto in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Rafael Olague took the loss. The Lighting have an impressive 56-31 record.
Thunder Bay first baseman Jesus Cordoba contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 27th hit of the season and put the Lighting ahead, 3-2.
"Nice to keep stacking the wins," said Cordoba.
