Pirates Eke Out 9-8 Win Versus Syracuse
The Paradise Island Pirates topped the Syracuse Orange Sox, 9-8, in TML R action at Predator Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Paradise Island designated hitter Tom de Jong. Paradise Island reliever Sandoval Mazzioti picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Julio Abreu was saddled with the loss. With the win, Paradise Island has a record of 60-27. Syracuse falls to 52-36.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Pirates grabbed the lead when de Jong hit his 15th home run of the season. The grand slam home run off Julio Abreu made it 9-6, Paradise Island.

"We'll take this win and move on," said de Jong.
