Fighting Iguanas Held in Check by Mooses, Lose, 4-1
|
The Manchester Mooses went home winners at Moose Head Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Craig Wood. Wood stifled the Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas, enabling Manchester to grab the 4-1 win. The winning pitcher was Wood, now 3-0. He tossed 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Picking up the save was Roberto Rodriguez. He's now 9 for 10 in save chances.
The Mooses got a big at-bat from catcher Humberto Perdomo. For the game, Perdomo was 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Manchester a 2-0 lead.
"We had a good game plan," Wood said, "and we were able to execute it."
The win lifted the Manchester record to 46-44.
