Streaking Scorpions Win Another One, 14-5
Another day, another victory for the red-hot Scottsdale Scorpions.

The Scottsdale Scorpions besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Caribbean first baseman Vincent Navarro by beating the Commies, 14-5, at Castro Field. Navarro went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Ricky Lopez, the winner, is now 2-6. He struck out 11 and walked 3 over 6 innings, while allowing 5 runs on 8 hits.

David Barreto had a big 3-run home run for the Scorpions in the top of the fifth inning. With Scottsdale leading 6-3 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 19-year old right-handed pitcher James Dennis and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Scorpions on top, 9-3.

"It's great to be on a roll," said Barreto.

The Scorpions, at 61-24, lead by one game in their division.
