The Thunder Bay Lighting handed the Frobisher Bay Caribou a sound defeat, 11-2, at Lightning Grove. Bryan Abarr was a main contributor to the win. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for Thunder Bay. Thunder Bay reliever Juan Rojas picked up the win to move to 1-0. Tony Espinoza suffered the loss. The first-place Lighting lifted their record to 66-22.

With Thunder Bay leading 8-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Abarr batted against Frobisher Bay pitcher Vicente Saenz. Abarr hit a fastball to right for a 3-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the Lighting on top, 11-2.

"Good hitting and good pitching is a lethal combination," said Abarr.
