Commies Capture Close Win
|
In a well-pitched game between the Caribbean Commies and the Rockville Rangers, pitcher Sal Penalosa was superb. The Caribbean right-hander helped his team win, 1-0. The win went to Bobby Maldonado in relief. His record improves to 3-4. Eddie Mendez took the loss. Alex Soto finished to wrap up his 3rd save.
Caribbean needed the clutch hitting of Kiyotaka Namba to seal the deal. The center fielder swatted a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Commies on top, 1-0. For the game, Namba had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"I had a good game plan," said Penalosa. "I made my pitches." His manager concurred. "It was all there," Atamas Manas said, "the velocity, the sharpness of his pitches."
The Commies are now 37-50, while the Rangers fall to 36-51.
