Victoria starter Bill Lovett put the Oconto Falls offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his slider in leading the Totems to a 3-1 win. Jose Cruz picked up the win in relief. Nate Scott took the loss for Oconto Falls. Armando Gimenez picked up the save, his 2nd.
Billy Zack was 1 for 3 for Victoria. The 20-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Guillermo Guajardo. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
"Makes our job easier," said Zack, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
The win gives Victoria a record of 2-0.
