Havana Bats Go Silent in 5-0 Loss
The Corral was the site for Roberto Clemente League action featuring the Havana Stogies and El Paso Mavericks.

Steve Surprenant imposed his will on the Stogies from the get-go. Relying mainly on his slider, the right-hander spearheaded the 5-0 El Paso triumph. The winner was Surprenant. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Andy Schutt.

Regardless of the outcome, those who came to The Corral for the Roberto Clemente League contest enjoyed being there.

"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said El Paso manager Lorenzo Castillo. "That's what Steve is right now."

At 52-43, the Mavericks claim third place in the Roberto Clemente League Central Division.
