The Thunder Bay Lighting beat the Carrollton Rangers, 6-3. Thunder Bay pitcher and Montreal, Canada, native Fred Bourque led the way. Thunder Bay reliever Jose Soliz picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Junichi Shimabukuro took the loss. The third-place Lighting have won 4 in a row.

The decisive blow was delivered by Mario Chaves in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 3-run home run off 18-year old left-handed pitcher Junichi Shimabukuro to win the game for Thunder Bay. The home crowd went nuts.

"Fred did a good job of managing their lineup," said Thunder Bay manager Masamune Fujimoto.
