Despite a fine performance by catcher Jose Tamez, the Syracuse Orange Sox lost to the Frobisher Bay Caribou, 11-10. Tamez was 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Frobisher Bay goes to 77-25. The win puts them 15½ games up in their division.

The decisive blow was delivered by Fernando Cruz in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 3-run home run off 18-year old right-handed pitcher Gabriel Quezada to win the game for Frobisher Bay. The home crowd went nuts.

"Ah," said Cruz in a jubilant clubhouse, "the sweet smell of victory!."
