Losing Trend Continues for Wichita
|
Oconto Falls starter Randy Parsons pitched well against the Wichita Storm at The Cove. The left-hander led his team to a win, 6-4. The winning pitcher was Parsons, now 5-0. He tossed 5.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 11. Alex de Jesus recorded the save, his 11th.
Sergio Pereyra had a big bases-clearing triple for the Timbers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Oconto Falls leading 3-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 16-year old right-handed pitcher Danny Gomez and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Timbers ahead, 6-1.
"It makes it a little nicer in the clubhouse when we win," said Parsons. "It eases the tension."
Wichita is in the throes of a long losing streak, which is now 14 games.
