Win Makes Pirates 23-8

The Paradise Island Pirates got a marvelous performance from pitcher Sean Meloche. The right-hander kept the Cooperstown offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 5-2 Paradise Island victory at Predator Park. Marco Castaneda, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. Paradise Island has 5 straight wins, Cooperstown 4 straight losses.
Chris Acevedo aided the Paradise Island cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the shortstop was 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"No disrespect to the other team," said Paradise Island manager Jorge Ávila. "But it's nice to get an easy win."
