Late Rally by Bison Secures 11-8 Win
|
The Bighorn Bison topped the Manhattan Slice, 11-8, at Copps Park. Bighorn first baseman Danny Douglass was a spark plug for the offense. He was 3-6 with 3 singles, while adding 4 RBI. Getting the save was Vince Erbeck, his 4th. Bighorn sits in 5th place in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division at 36-47.
Bighorn used the timely hitting of Riley Andrus to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Bison on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Bison manager Carlos Esparza wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
