The Montreal Cardinals had to overcome a big game from Savannah third baseman Er Fang to leave Denis Coderre Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning, 6-5. Fang was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The Cardinals, at 73-44, have now won 4 straight.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Montreal third baseman Francisco Beltran, facing Pablo Vega, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Cardinals the 6-5 win.
"This game was intense," Beltran said, postgame.
