Vasquez Helps Vancouver Cruise to 10-3 Win
|
A 4-RBI performance from the 24-year old left fielder Jose Vasquez helped the Vancouver Pioneers beat the Seattle Sasquatch, 10-3. Mark Tanner was the winner. Over 8 innings, he yielded 3 runs on 7 hits, with no walks and 7 strikeouts. The win puts Vancouver at 51-45 this season.
Ron Gerlt had a big 2-run double for the Pioneers in the top of the third inning. With Vancouver leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from 21-year old left-handed pitcher Ethan Jenkins and swatted a double to center. It was his 19th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pioneers ahead, 5-0.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Vasquez said in reaction to the win.
