Rangers Rebuff Nutcrackers, 5-3
|
With shortstop Aaron Knowles leading the charge, the Carrollton Rangers defeated the Normal Nutcrackers, 5-3, at Rangers Field. Knowles, who is tied for 3rd in the TR with a 1.331 OPS, went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The winner in relief was Danny Correa. He is now 4-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. So far in 2062, Carrollton is 19-28.
Carrollton designated hitter Luis Reyes contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 35th hit of the season and put the Rangers ahead, 3-1.
