In the 10-6 Montreal win over Yuma, the impact of Lou Soper was substantial. Soper, the 22nd overall pick in the 2064 draft, went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Juan Moreno picked up the win, improving his season record to 13-11. He struck out 8 in 7.2 innings. Cory Rumley, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 9th save.

Alex Vega had a big 2-run triple for the Cardinals in the top of the first inning. With Montreal leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a slider from 20-year old left-handed pitcher Juan Cruz and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cardinals ahead, 3-0.

"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Vega.

The Cardinals improved to 77-46.
