Mexico City Downed, 5-3, by Mounties
|
Montreal picked up a win at Mount Royal Grounds, bumping off the Mexico City Luchadores, 5-3. Pitcher Owen Stegemann was a major reason the Mounties emerged victorious. Montreal reliever Eric Wilkinson got the win, raising his record to 1-2. Dan Wallace was tagged with the loss. With the win over Mexico City, the Mounties improved to 56-43.
Had Cody Jaeger not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Jaeger hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Mounties.
"When Owen is on, he can really move the ball around," said Montreal manager Thomas Hughes.
