The Montreal Cardinals defeated the Wichita Storm, 6-1. Second Baseman David Nieves deserved a large share of the credit. Nieves went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Cardinals. Now 9-47, Wichita has lost 14 in a row.

It could have been a different outcome for Montreal, had it not been for Tony Darius, the 21-year old catcher . Darius contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning to put Montreal up, 2-0.

"We need to get back to basics," said Wichita manager Brandon Ashley.
