Moreno Helps Peaches Defeat Pirates, 6-2
|
Jose Moreno was a major factor in the 6-2 Savannah win over Paradise Island. The Peaches right fielder went 4-5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Danny Isley was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. The second-place Peaches hiked their record to 40-21.
Moreno had a game-changing double in the bottom of the sixth. On a full count fastball from Gil Lozano, he banged a 2-run double to left-center, giving the Peaches a 4-2 lead. It was the 17th double of the year for Moreno.
"There's ebbs and flows in the season and right now we're just looking to finish strong," said Moreno.
