Storm Pitching Ravaged by Lopez
Even as a kid, Vinny Lopez said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Barack H. Obama Park, Lopez showed how well he learned that lesson.

The 20-year-old center fielder had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Coronado Islanders, helping his team knock off the Wichita Storm by a score of 23-6.

"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did."

Vinny Lopez singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 7th and flied out in the 8th.

Lopez on the season is batting .299 with 10 home runs. His totals include 48 RBIs and 60 runs scored. He has played in 66 games.
