Poliskin Blasts Voodoos, Falcons Take Game 1, 16-14
|
The Frontance Falcons defeated the Rutland Voodoos, 16-14, in Game 1 of the League Championship Series. A big contributor was left fielder Cole Poliskin, who was 4 for 6 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. The win moves Frontance into a 1-0 lead in the series.
North Stormont, Canada-born Ernest Fortin came through in the clutch. In the top of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Falcons trailing 14-12, he hit a 3-run home run to right-center to put Frontance on top.
"Things broke our way today and that's great," Falcons manager Bryan Bram said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Morelia HS in Rutland.
