Higuchi Stars for Commies in 4-2 Win
|
The Caribbean Commies stopped the Rockville Rangers, 4-2, at Brewbaker Memorial Stadium. The Commies got a big game from Teiichi Higuchi, who went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Antonio Yanez picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Jose Costillo suffered the loss. With the win, Caribbean is 20-113.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Danny Aguilar came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Rockville pitcher Jose Costillo, he hit a 0-1 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Caribbean on top, 3-2.
"I did what I could," said Aguilar. "But like I tell my teammates, 'I can only do so much myself.'"
