Late Offense Lifts Chicago to 5-2 Victory
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Chicago Eclipse and Dallas Texans came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The Dallas Texans got a superb performance from pitcher Michael Slater, but the Chicago Eclipse still won the game, 5-2. Slater threw 7.2 innings of shutout ball. Franklin Sprague, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.2 innings.
Jalen Nelloms came through with a big-time hit for Chicago. The center fielder smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Nelloms said in reaction to the win.
The first-place Eclipse now have a record of 59-40.
