Almost There: Calgary On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 5-4 Win
|
Despite a great performance by Thunder Bay designated hitter Marvin Weier, the Calgary Hitmen defeated the Black Bears by the score of 5-4 at Edgbaston. Weier went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times, but he could not prevent the Hitmen from moving one game closer to the League Championship Series. Calgary now leads the Divisional Series 3-1.
Kevin Stark came through with a big-time hit for Calgary. The first baseman smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Stark, "one at-bat at a time."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Edgbaston in Thunder Bay.
