The Sandy Springs Spartans outlasted Mike Grant and the Adirondack Lumberjacks, 9-7. Grant was impressive in the loss. The Adirondack catcher went 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The Spartans raised their record to 81-59.

Sandy Springs used the timely hitting of Jeremy Tipton to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Spartans on top, 9-7. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Sandy Springs manager Rafael Alonso.
