Commies Fall to Brooklyn, 9-2
|
The Brooklyn Cyclones bested the Caribbean Commies by a score of 9-2, with third baseman Yao-pang Chai getting the main credit. On the day, Chai was 2-2 with a home run, a triple, and 3 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for the Cyclones. Guadalupe Quiroz closed the game out for Brooklyn, earning his 5th save. Brooklyn has now won 6 games in a row.
Brooklyn shortstop Omar Delgado contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, he hit a fastball to right-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 143rd hit of the season and put the Cyclones ahead, 3-1.
"It was a good team win. Everybody threw something in," Delgado told the Brooklyn News.
