Chicago parlayed a decent outing from starter Nick Leicht into a solid win over the Montreal Mounties. The final score was 6-4. Joe Umlah earned the save for Chicago, his 24th of the year. By defeating Montreal, the first-place Eclipse improved to 58-42.

Chicago center fielder Israel Cardenas contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 76th hit of the season and put the Eclipse ahead, 5-0.

"I liked his command," said Chicago manager Demetrio Recchia. "Nick was throwing strikes."
