With 6-4 Win, Cyclones Go to 106-54
|
Two good teams met in a late-season showdown.
Though he had a terrific game, Juan Corpus could not prevent his team, the Thunder Bay Lighting, from absorbing a loss. Brooklyn won the game, 6-4. Corpus went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Joe Bauer was credited with the save, his 22nd in 23 tries.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Alex Castillo? The 19-year old center fielder Castillo stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put Brooklyn up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Winning is contagious," said Castillo. "We're looking forward to the next game."
The second-place Cyclones have won 5 straight games.
