Totems Reel Off Another Win
|
Victoria parlayed a decent outing from starter Vaughan Wellon into a solid win over the Oconto Falls Timbers. The final score was 5-4. Wellon, now 16-3, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing 4 runs. Aaron Philbrick picked up his 15th save of the season.
John Fackrell had a big grand slam home run for the Totems in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Victoria trailing 4-1 and the bases loaded, he sized up a sinker from 20-year old left-handed pitcher Cesar Garcia and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Totems on top, 5-4.
"The guys are feeling pretty good about where they're at right now," said Totems manager Senta Nakano. "We have a lot of guys playing with confidence."
Victoria goes to 107-55, Oconto Falls to 102-60.
