Baseball fans saw a good contest between the The Stinging Larvae and Coronado Islanders.

The The Stinging Larvae defeated the Coronado Islanders, 6-4, at The Queen. Dave Field, who is tied for 3rd in the TR in home runs with 33, was a standout performer for The Stinging. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 2 he knocked in. Chia-ch'ing Le, the winning pitcher, improved to 7-10. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 3. Javy Gomez earned the save for The Stinging, his 8th.

The Stinging right fielder Jesus del Rosal contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a splitter to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 144th hit of the season and put the Larvae ahead, 5-2.

"We're producers not directors," said Field. "Produce a good swing. Can't direct where it goes."

With the win, The Stinging goes to 58-104, while the Islanders fall to 92-70.
