Pioneers Losers, 8-2, Versus Jacksonville
|
Jacksonville Pilots starter B.J. Tourtelotte pitched a strong game against the Vancouver Pioneers at "The Fort" at B.C. Place, leading the Pilots to victory, 8-2. Tourtelotte, now 6-4, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 9, walking 0, and allowing no runs. Jacksonville has won 4 straight, while Vancouver has lost 4 in a row.
John Popper had a big 2-run double for the Pilots in the top of the fifth inning. With Jacksonville leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Ricky Suazo, the 29th overall pick in the 2056 draft, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 20th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pilots ahead, 4-0.
"We didn't put our best foot forward tonight," said losing manager Naofumi Tanaka.
