The inspired effort of Maple center fielder Frank Robinson III was not enough to prevent a loss, 6-5, to the Walnut Creek Warriors. Robinson III went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Walnut Creek reliever Gilberto Velazquez snagged the win, upping his record to 4-2. Andy Baer shouldered the loss. Russ Gilleo closed it out for his 23rd save.
In the bottom of the fourth, Elijah McNeil delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Walnut Creek second baseman hit a run-scoring single, putting the Warriors in front, 6-5.
"We found a way to get it done," McNeil said.
The Warriors now have a mark of 69-32.
