Pioneers Rack Up 4-1 Win Versus Buffalo
|
The Vancouver Pioneers got a strong performance from pitcher Mark Tanner. Kiwi stymied the Buffalo offense en route to a solid, 4-1 win at "The Fort" at B.C. Place. In 6.1 innings, Tanner surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Joey Tino earned save number 10 this season.
Wonus Hagner dealt the Bison a blow in the bottom of the sixth. Batting with the bases loaded and Vancouver leading 2-1, Hagner, who is a four-time Gold Glove Award winner, hit a 1-0 cutter for a run-scoring single.
"I had pretty good command out there," said Tanner.
At 53-48, Vancouver is in second place in the Thurman Munson League West Division.
