Toreros Drop 4-3 Decision to Mavericks
The El Paso Mavericks did just enough to sneak past the Cabo San Lucas Toreros, 4-3, at The Corral. El Paso pitcher Malik Combs, in particular, had a standout performance. Combs, the winner, moves to 1-2. He threw 5.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. Ryan Burnett earned his 1st save, after closing out the game.

Nate Parish dealt the Toreros a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and El Paso leading 3-1, Parish, who is the 3rd-best prospect in the Mavericks organization, hit a 2-2 curveball for a run-scoring single.

"That was a really good outing by Malik," said El Paso manager Lorenzo Castillo.

El Paso is now 6-5.
