Houghton and Montreal duked it out and the Gremlins came out victorious.

Starting pitcher Jared Ritsch was a major factor in the 5-2 Houghton Gremlins triumph over the Montreal Jazz. The winner was Ritsch. He threw 5.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Sam Hickey. The save went to Chris Wethington, number 18 for him.

Tim Alessio had a big solo home run for the Gremlins in the top of the fifth inning. With Houghton leading 3-2 and the bases empty, he sized up a sinker from Sam Hickey, who finished 3rd in the TML in innings pitched with 216.2 last year, and punished it. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Gremlins on top, 4-2.

"The other side took advantage in some key situations," said Montreal manager Pedro Gonzáles.

With the win, Houghton goes to 51-36, while the Jazz fall to 45-42.
