Powell Homers Twice in 11-5 Hornets Win
The Eureka Hornets downed the Dallas Texans, 11-5, at Metroplex Park. Patrick Powell led the way, going 2-for-5 for Eureka. Justin Soule, the winner, improved to 9-5. He held the Texans to 1 run on 5 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 1. The Roberto Clemente League Central Division-leading Hornets are 65-38.

The Texans had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Hornets going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old third baseman John Campbell came to the plate. Campbell hit a solo home run on a 2-2 slider from Dallas hurler Jim Miller. It was Campbell's 7th home run of the year.

"We maximized our offense today," said Eureka skipper Juan Montés. "That makes everyone's life easier."
