3-2 Win for Mexico City Over Montreal
|
The Mexico City Luchadores topped the Montreal Mounties, 3-2, in Roberto Clemente League action at The Royal Grounds. The game was highlighted by the performance of Mexico City pitcher Sander Rademakers. Rademakers, now 7-8, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 0, walking 4, and allowing 2 runs. Picking up his 21st save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Ray Heck.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Luchadores had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when third baseman Rich Van Fleet hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Sandy Briseno and made the score 3-2, Luchadores. Van Fleet went 1-2 with a walk and was hit by a pitch.
"We came in and got the job done. That's what it's all about in this business," said Rademakers.
Montreal has now lost 4 straight.
