The Chicago Eclipse had their hands full with El Paso Mavericks starter Malik Combs, who frustrated Chicago hitters while leading El Paso to a comfortable, 9-1 win. Combs, the winner, moves to 8-7. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 2 walks. The triumph puts El Paso at 60-51 for the season.

Carlos Ayala had a big solo home run for the Mavericks in the top of the fourth inning. With El Paso leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Nick Leicht, who finished 5th in the RCL in wins with 17 in 2056, and punished it. The result was his 15th home run of the season, which put the Mavericks on top, 3-1.
