In a tight contest at Stade Claude Raymond, the West Island Jazz edged the Quebec Armada by the score of 5-4. West Island first baseman John Bernstein, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. West Island reliever Ernesto Herrera picked up the win, while Danny Phillips took the loss for Quebec. The second-place Jazz are now 60-51, the Armada 55-55.

The decisive blow was delivered by Dave Ojeda in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run double off 27-year old right-handed pitcher Danny Phillips to win the game for West Island. The home crowd went nuts.

"Good win," said Ojeda. "Maybe some of the whiners in the clubhouse will pipe down for a little while now."
