Getting offensive support from Cameron Mance, the Jacksonville Pilots topped the Montreal Jazz, 9-3. Mance went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Pilots. Tyler Martin earned his 3rd save, after closing out the game. The 6th-place Jazz have dropped 5 straight games.

The Jazz had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Pilots going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 32-year old third baseman John Popper came to the plate. Popper hit a 2-run home run on a 0-1 cutter from Montreal hurler Manny Domenech. It was Popper's 19th home run of the year.

"We're in a little bit of a dry spell," said Montreal manager Pedro Gonzáles.
