Brown goes 3-for-4, Apples Move to 97-47
|
The Carmel Apples knocked off the Hazleton Birdwings, 9-7, at BLM Stadium. Chris Brown was a big reason Carmel won. The center fielder went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Ethan White picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-1. Jordan Lopez was tagged with the loss. The TML A Earl Weaver Division-leading Apples have a record of 97-47.
With the game tied, 7-7, in the bottom of the seventh, Brown had a key at-bat for Carmel. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Brown hit a run-scoring single off Jordan Lopez, making the score 8-7, Apples.
Brown said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
