Apples Lose By a Run at Memphis
|
It might have been a rain-shorted game, but the hometown crowd didn't seem to mind.
Marty Prado pitched well, but his team, the Carmel Apples, still dropped a 2-1 decision to the Memphis Blues at The Barn. Memphis pitcher Nick Marshall earned the win, hiking his record to 7-5. Marty Prado suffered the loss.
Travis Skarda, who is tied for 10th in the TA in stolen bases with 13, took Carmel hurler Marty Prado deep in the bottom of the second. His 2-run home run put the Blues on top, 2-0. In all, Skarda had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"The old adage is true," said Skarda. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
Memphis now owns a record of 84-62.
